Depression, fear, and anxiety are some of the most common and uncomfortable emotions that we can experience at some point in our lives. Through counseling and treatment, we are able to help you recover motivation, perspective, and joy that you once had in your life. Although I do not prescribe medications, I am able to provide referrals to an APRN or Psychiatrist who can establish care and medication management if requested or clinically appropriate for the individual need.
Many individuals can experience symptoms associated with painful and traumatic circumstances. Anxiety, fear, and hopelessness are a few emotions that can linger post traumatic events. I can help you overcome these symptoms and guide you through the process of grief and healing using over 12 years of experience in Trauma Informed Care and a Professional Certification in Trauma and Resilience from Florida State University. In addition, I participate with several Employee Assistance Programs and have experience counseling first responders and those with exposure to traumatic events (including victims of crime/domestic violence, police officers, fire fighters, armed forces, teachers and employees in state appointed positions working with children and/or adults in desperate circumstances).
In addition, I provide support to individuals, couples, and families who have a history and pattern of violence or maltreatment within relationships. If you want to change behavior, stop a pattern of legal involvement, or simply develop better communication, I want to help! I am well versed in working with high conflict relationships and want to help you reach the goal of creating a more peaceful household, a healthy relationship, and avoid legal issues in the future.
Counseling can be beneficial to couples who are looking to strengthen their emotional connection, in all stages of their relationship. Whether you are a couple contemplating separation or divorce or a couple attempting to parent their children following a tumultuous divorce process, I am confident my unique approach that utilizes both the clinical perspective and a mediators neutrality can take on the most high conflict relationships.
Or, perhaps you've been in a relationship and are contemplating taking the next step toward commitment, but the condition of your relationship may not be what you envisioned as your "happily ever after". You do not have to be married to participate in couples counseling. I offer sessions for all who are in a relationship and seek to improve communication, create intimacy, improve mutual understanding, learn the skills of conflict resolution, build trust, and develop the ability to reach an agreement that is mutually satisfying for the individual and the relationship.
I am happy to announce the participation with the following Insurance Carriers: CT Medicaid, Aetna, Anthem BC/BS, Beacon, Cigna, Connecticare, Harvard Pilgrim, Health New England, Magellan, Optum, Oxford and several others (*Note: I am no longer taking Medicare Referrals at this time).
*Please note that participation by provider in insurance coverage is not a guarantee of benefit coverage. It is the client's responsibility to verify individual coverage with their provider prior to the start of initial counseling services scheduled with the provider.
I am dedicated to making sure we can work together even if you do not have Behavioral Health insurance benefits, elect not to use behavioral health benefits thru you insurance, or do not currently have an insurance policy in which I participate. A sliding scale fee can be created on a case-by-case basis and will be determined by income and other factors prior to establishing care. Some insurance carriers will offer an Out-of-Network agreement and will specify the cost of sessions based on rates determined by insurance carrier prior to care.
Mediation Counseling and Family Counseling will be charged based on the unique circumstances and demand of the case. Each case will be assessed individually, during the initial consultation, and cost will be determined upon need. Mediation counseling and family counseling (prior to, during, or after a divorce) is not a legal service; rather it is a counseling service provided in conjunction to client;s having secured legal counsel (i.e. an Attorney or a Lawyer) and who seek to have guidance, emotional support, and skill building strategies to work together thru the process of decision-making with the least amount of conflict necessary. My goal is to assist each family in reaching a mutually satisfying agreement in the shortest amount of time possible using my experience and background in mediation and conflict resolution.
My practice is here and ready to get you on the path to more fulfilling relationships and satisfying daily life. Schedule a consultation appointment today to get started! New to the practice? Please send an email to aquickmsw@aol.com
